Academic Requirement |
The department of Civil Engineering, Yokohama National University offer Doctor or Master of Engineering in the field of
Civil Engineering. Doctoral degree is completed normally in three years while master degree is completed in two years.
|
Doctoral Program
Doctoral program in the department of civil engineering is exclusively research study. The progress of research will be
continually supervised, monitored and assessed by respective supervisor through laboratory discussions, seminars and
presentation through out the study period. The successful completion of the dissertation research with peer reviewed academic publication
is a key for the graduation.
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)
Requirements for Graduation:
- Satisfactorily completion of minimum 6 credits of course works offered by department plus additional 4 credits
related to Civil Engineering Exercises and seminar
- Satisfactorily passed his/her dissertation examination assessed by committee members of at least 5 committee members in related field
- At least two papers published or accepted in reviewed Journals

Master Degree
Master's degree students in the Department of Civil Engineering, Yokohama National University are required to take a minimum
necessary credits of course works plus additional successfully completion of Master thesis in his/her major. Student's research progress is
supervised and assessed by respective supervisor during discussion, seminars and presentation timely within laboratory through out
the study period.
Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)
Requirements for Graduation:
- Satisfactorily completion of a minimum of 30 credits of coursework and passed Master degree thesis examination.
- A minimum of 16 credits must be earned from courses offered by Graduate School of Engineering plus 4 credits
related to civil engineering exercises and seminar.
