Welcome to the homepage of Estuarine and Coastal Engineering Laboratory
/ Takayuki SUZUKI
My main research topic is sediment transport within and beyond the surf
zone. I also research disaster prevention, coastal environmental protection,
and risk assessment. I use field and laboratory experiment data and numerical
simulations to elucidate phenomena and propose solutions to problems.
I hope that our students will have a good experience and conduct good research,
not only in terms of research results but also in terms of education.
To students who wish to study in this field
- In my research field, I am actively involved in studies on sediment and wave transport in coastal areas and coastal disaster prevention. I use laboratory experiments, field observations, and numerical simulations to select and implement the most appropriate method to solve the problem. For details, please refer to the "Research Contents" page. The titles of the thesis and dissertations I have conducted as the main supervisor are also listed. For a more detailed description please see HERE.
- My research interest: Physical mechanisms of morphological change on sandy
beaches, Understanding of the relationship between waves, currents, and
sand drift in coastal areas, Application of Nature-based Solutions (NbS)
to existing coastal protection, Observation and prediction of coastal environments,
Prediction of complex water hazards in coastal cities, Assessment of the
impact of climate change on coastal hazards, etc.
